Andy Chui Tsz-kin founded the ‘Umbrella Fathers and Mothers’ during the 2014 Umbrella Movement, and won the District Council election for the Yue Wan constituency in 2015.

Chui has been detained since February 2020 for protesting against the National Security Law, and his bail application was denied by High Court Justice Esther Toh in April 2020. In December 2020, Chui was arrested for organising an unauthorised assembly in protest against the National Security Law in July 2020.   • Charge: Conspiracy to commit subversion under the National Security Law

    Incident: Organising and participating in unofficial primary elections for the Hong Kong Legislative Council in July 2020

    Sentencing: 4 years, 2 months’ imprisonment (HKFP)

  • Charge: Organising unauthorised assembly

    Incident: Protest against the National Security Law on 1 July 2020

    Sentencing: 6 months’ imprisonment (The Standard)
