Ricky Or Yiu-lam started his political career in 2003, when he was elected to be a member of the Sai Kung District Council. Or served as the chairman of the Concern Group for Tseung Kwan O People’s Livelihood and joined ‘The Frontier’, a political group founded by Emily Lau. Or was also one of the marshals during the 2014 Umbrella Movement.

Or was twice elected to the Hong Kong Legislative Council in 2004 and 2012. Or was later arrested in January 2021 for participating in the “35+” unofficial primary elections in July 2020. (Photo: Stand News)

  Incident: Organising and participating in unofficial primary elections for the Hong Kong Legislative Council in July 2020

  Sentencing: 6 years, 7 months’ imprisonment (HKFP)
