Sanctions campaign
One of our key asks has been that governments around the world consider imposing targeted sanctions against individual perpetrators of human rights violations in Hong Kong. It is vital that violations of human rights are met with a proportionate response.
Hong Kong Watch is campaigning for governments who have raised concerns about Hong Kong’s national security laws to follow through with actions, including:
Imposing targeted sanctions on Chinese Communist Party officials, Hong Kong government officials, members of the Hong Kong Police Force, and Chinese security officials who violate human rights in Hong Kong, particularly under the National Security Law and the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance.
Considering what other sanctions are appropriate in response to the rapidly deteriorating human rights situation.
Working with civil society organisations to create an avenue for Hong Kongers to provide evidence of the human rights violations of Chinese and Hong Kong officials within and outside of Hong Kong.
