Gordon Ng Ching-hang, who goes by the pseudonym Lee Bak Lou on LIHKG, initiated a petition to for voters and transferred HK$135,000 to Apple Daily for a front-page newspaper advertisement on 3 July 2020 promoting the democratic primaries.
