Kalvin Ho Kai-ming 何啟明

Former chairman, Hong Kong Association for Democracy and People's Livelihood (ADPL)

Kalvin Ho Kai-ming graduated from the City University of Hong Kong with a degree in Sociology. Ho joined the Hong Kong Association for Democracy and People's Livelihood (ADPL) and became the convenor and then chairman of the Association. Ho was also elected to be a member of the Sham Shui Po District Council for Nam Cheong East in 2016. 

Ho was arrested in January 2021 for participating in the “35+” unofficial primary elections in July 2020. Prior to his arrest, Ho was promoting a petition with the goal of 10,000 signatures from Hong Kong citizens to urge the authorities to declare a post-colonial century-old service reservoir at Bishop Hill in Shek Kip Mei a historical monument.   • Charge: Conspiracy to commit subversion under the National Security Law

    Incident: Organising and participating in unofficial primary elections for the Hong Kong Legislative Council in July 2020

    Sentencing: 6 years, 7 months’ imprisonment (HKFP)
