Kinda Li Ka-tat was a registered social worker before becoming a member of the Kwun Tong District Council in 2019. In 2014, Li established the local group ‘Civic Autonomy Power’ with other social work students to serve the Sau Mau Ping community.

Li was arrested on 6 January 2021 for his participation in the “35+” unofficial primary elections in July 2020. While he was remanded in custody, he resigned from the District Council in April 2021. (Photo: Kinda Li’s Facebook page)

  Incident: Organising and participating in unofficial primary elections for the Hong Kong Legislative Council in July 2020

  Sentencing: 4 years, 3 months’ imprisonment (HKFP)
