Tam Tak-chi was formerly the vice president of the People Power political party and a former radio host. Tam took a leading role in supporting the 2014 Occupy Central Movement. Tam won an unofficial primary election for the Hong Kong Legislative Council in July 2020, and was arrested on 6 January 2021 for his participation. (Photo: Etan Liam, via Flickr & HKFP)

Charges, incidents & sentences:

  • Charge: Tam Tak-chi was found guilty at the District Court for 11 out of 14 charges, including uttering seditious words, holding or convening an unauthorised assembly, incitement to knowingly take part in an unauthorised assembly, and refusing to obey an order given by an authorised officer. Tam was acquitted of two charges of disorderly conduct in a public place, and one charge of conspiracy to utter seditious words. (HKFP)

    Incident: Organising and participating in unofficial primary elections for the Hong Kong Legislative Council in July 2020
