Clarisse Yeung Suet-ying is a graduate of fine arts at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Yeung co-founded the Umbrella Movement Visual Archive during the 2014 Hong Kong protests.

Yeung was first elected as a member of the Wanchai District Council in 2016, and elected chairperson in 2019. Yeung was one of the 53 pro-democracy politicians who was arrested under the National Security Law in January 2021 for participating in the democratic primary elections for the Hong Kong Legislative Council in July 2020. Soon after her arrest, Yeung disbanded her political group ‘Kickstart Wanchai’ – a district-based coalition that aimed to bring new changes to Wanchai residents.     Incident: Organising and participating in unofficial primary elections for the Hong Kong Legislative Council in July 2020

    Sentencing: 6 years, 6 months’ imprisonment (HKFP)
