Yu Yan-yuk is a student turned political prisoner for owning the bank account of the Spark Alliance, for which he was a volunteer. The Spark Alliance is a crowdfunding organisation that financed bail applications for those arrested during the 2019 protests, seen as a threat to the Hong Kong government. The Alliance’s bank account had approximately 23 deposits and 90 withdrawals within a three-month period, and Yu is currently behind bars for alleged money laundering.
