Hong Kong Watch holds second event at HongKonger Community Centre
Hong Kong Watch Canada, along with HongKonger Station, held the second event at the HongKonger Community Centre (HKCC) in Toronto on Saturday, 26 November 2022. The event attracted over 200 visitors.
Hong Kong Watch’s co-founder and Chief Executive Benedict Rogers visited Toronto from the UK and introduced his new book The China Nexus. On top of that, there were a number of fun and practical activities, including Hong Kong culture book recommendations, a Hong Kong food potluck, a World Cup 2022 live stream, a job search workshop and a roundtable discussion on Canada’s Open Work Permit scheme for Hong Kongers.
In the roundtable session, our Canada team shared with Hong Kongers information about its discussion with high-level officials from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada on the extension and expansion of the scheme and answered their questions about it.
HKCC is aimed at connecting Hong Kongers and building a Hong Kong community in Canada.
