West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts (No.3, 4/F, 11:00am) - Mention

  • Koo Sze Yiu, activist

Koo Sze Yiu will be mentioned at court for his charge of attempting to do or making any preparation to do an act or acts with seditious intention. He was arrested before a planned protest against the Beijing Winter Olympics was to take place. (Case no.: WKCC481/2022)

West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts (No.3, 4/F, 2:30pm) - Mention

    Chung Pui Kuen, former chief editor of Stand News
    Lam Shiu Tung , former editor-in-chief of Stand News

They will be mentioned at court for their charges of conspiracy to publish and/or reproduce seditious publications. Chung and Lam were arrested on December 30 2021 following a police raid on the pro-democracy media organisation and were denied bail. (Case no.: WKCC5281/2021)

Fanling Magistrates' Courts (No.6, 7/F, 2:30pm) - Verdict

  • Lo Chun Yu, Tuen Mun district councillor

Lo Chun Yu will receive a verdict for his charge of giving false information to attempt to mislead a police officer with intent. He was arrested in November 2020 after posting on Facebook claiming that police officers had threatened him with swear words when he was helping protestors in Yuen Long. The police countered his allegations and Lo had to apologise and delete the post. (Case no.: FLCC701/2021)


24 FEBRUARY

West Kowloon Magistrates’ Court (No.3, 4/F, 9:30am) - Return day

Jimmy Lai will return to court to face charges of collusion with a foreign country or with external elements to endanger national security; conspiracy to commit collusion with a foreign country or with external elements to endanger national security and conspiracy to print, publish, sell, offer for sale, distribute, display and/or reproduce seditious publications. (Case no.: WKCC4341/2020)

Lo Chun-yu will be having his trial hearing for his charge of giving false information to attempt to mislead a police officer with intent. Eastern Magistrates' Courts (No.1, 6/F, 2:30pm) - Plea

Wong Fung-yiu will make her plea for her charge in taking part in unlawful assembly. She was charged for her participation in protests held in Quarry Bay and Sai Wan Ho in August 2019. (Case no.: ESCC99/2022)

District Court (No.27, 8/F, 2:30pm) - Mention

  • Edmund Wan Yiu-sing, D100 radio host

Edmund Wan Yiu-sing will be mentioned in court for his charges of acting with seditious intent and money laundering. Wan allegedly committed the seditious offences when hosting his online radio shows in August and October 2020. His assistant Alice Lee Po-lai will also be mentioned in court for money laundering. 23 FEBRUARY

Eastern Magistrates' Courts (No.5, 5/F, 2:30pm) - Hearing

  • Li Chi Wang

Former Sha Tin district councillor Li Chi Wang will be heard for his charge of behaving in a noisy or disorderly manner in a public place. On 24 May 2020, he was arrested during a rally against the national security law in Causeway Bay. He was present at the scene to monitor the rally and police operations. He said he was arrested after accusing the officers of attaching him. He refused bail and was later released by the police. On 17 November 2020, he was formally arrested. (Case no.: ESCC2480/2020)


21 FEBRUARY

High Court (No.10, 6/F, 11:30am) - Hand down reasons of judgment

  • Joshua Wong Chi Fung

Jannelle Rosalynne Leung They will be handed down reasons for judgment. On 4 June 2020, Wong and Leung joined an illegal assembly. They were sentenced to 10 months and 4 months of imprisonment respectively on 6 May 2021. On 19 January 2022, Wong won his appeal to reduce his jail term by 2 months. Leung's appeal was rejected. (Case no.: CACC101/2021)

District Court (No.32, 10/F, 9:30am) - Mention and pre-trial review

They will be mentioned and undergo pre-trial review on their charges of fraud. The former founder and senior executives of Apple Daily's owner New Digital are accused of violating lease terms with Hong Kong Science Park, saving HK$20 million in rent since 1995 on separate business. If tried and convicted of fraud, they could face up to 14 years in prison each. (Case no.: DCCC 349/2021)


18 FEBRUARY

West Kowloon Magistrates' Court (No.3, 4/F, 11am) - Mention

  • Koo Sze-yiu

Koo Sze-yiu will be mentioned at court for attempting to do or making any preparation to do an act or acts with seditious intention. The veteran activist was arrested on 4 February ahead of a planned protest against the Beijing Winter Olympics outside government offices. His bail was denied and he has been remanded in custody since. (Case no.: WKCC481/2022)
