Volunteer Position: Assistant to the Policy Advisor for Canada, Hong Kong Watch

Location: Ottawa, ON

Duration: Flexible; minimum commitment of 6 months preferred

Position description: We are seeking a dedicated volunteer to support our Policy Advisor for Canada. As a Volunteer Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting with advocacy campaigns and policy research initiatives. This position offers valuable experience in the field of public policy and advocacy, providing an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that impact our community.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on policy issues relevant to our advocacy campaigns.

  • Assist in drafting policy briefs, reports, and other advocacy materials.

  • Monitor legislative developments and policy announcements.

  • Provide administrative support for the Policy Advisor as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in public policy, advocacy, and social change. Enrolment or being a graduate of a relevant undergraduate degree is an asset. 

  • Excellent research and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Detail-oriented and well-organized.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet research tools.
