Ray Wong joins Hong Kong Watch as Policy and Strategy Advisor

Hong Kong Watch is delighted to announce the appointment of Ray Wong as our Policy and Strategy Advisor.

In this role, Ray will be instrumental in strengthening Hong Kong Watch’s influence in the US, sharing the EU’s China and Hong Kong policy with US lawmakers, and engaging with government officials and think tanks to advance our mission. He will lead our high-level engagements in Washington, DC, to ensure that Hong Kong remains a priority on the international agenda.

As a prominent Hong Kong activist, Ray brings a wealth of experience in human rights advocacy and policy research. He made headlines as the first Hong Kong activist to be granted asylum by Germany and was the founder of the Hong Kong Indigenous political party in Hong Kong. Currently, he chairs Berlin-based Freiheit für Hongkong e.V. and serves as the Deputy General Secretary of the European Hong Kong Diaspora Alliance, leading advocacy and research on human rights and the People’s Republic of China’s threatening influence in Europe.

We warmly welcome Ray, whose expertise, passion, and commitment to Hong Kong make him a tremendous asset to our work.
