Hong Kong Watch chairs roundtable discussion on Canada’s lifeboat scheme at HongKonger Community Centre Toronto
Hong Kong Watch Canada attended an event at the HongKonger Community Centre Toronto on Saturday, 25 February 2023. There were more than 400 participants.
Hong Kong Watch’s co-founder and Trustee Aileen Calverley and Community Outreach and Communications Advisor Max Wu chaired a roundtable discussion on Canada’s lifeboat scheme for Hong Kongers at the event. They answered questions concerning the revised Open Work Permit scheme and Stream B of the pathways to permanent residency for Hong Kong recent graduates.
In addition, they helped an alliance named HK Pathway Stream B (Classes of 2016 and 17 Graduates) Alliance collect signatures for a paper petition for the expansion of Stream B. We are delighted that the petition has been presented and is waiting to be debated in the House of Commons of Canada. Hong Kong Watch’s Patron Garnett Genuis MP will raise the issue of Canada’s immigration policy for Hong Kongers when the time comes.
