Benedict Rogers on GB News - UK Judges resigned from Hong Kong's Court of Final Appeal
Benedict Rogers, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Watch, was interviewed by GB News on 1 April 2022, talking about the recent resignation of UK Judges from Hong Kong's Court of Final Appeal. Benedict hoped that Australian and Canadian judges who appear to be staying on in Hong Kong would reconsider their position in light of the two UK Supreme Court judges.
Benedict talked about the rapid and dramatic change in freedom and human rights situation in Hong Kong after the handover in 1997. Benedict said that pretty much all of Hong Kong's freedoms now have been dismantled, and most of the independent media have been shut down. He added that the right to protest has been denied, academic freedom is threatened, as well as all the basic freedoms now are being torn up.
