Hong Kong Watch CEO Benedict Rogers attends rally to support BNO Scheme amendment
A rally was held in early December 2021 at Richmond Terrace, Whitehall, London to support the passage of an amendment to the Nationality and Borders Bill proposed by Damian Green MP, which allows HongKongers with one parent holding BNO status to apply for the government visa scheme.
Benedict Rogers, Co-founder and the CEO of Hong Kong Watch, attended the rally and said the UK government should make more efforts in helping young Hong Kongers. In his speech, Benedict said, “According to research that Hong Kong Watch recently published, 93% of those arrested and charged and put on trial and imprisonment in court as a result of the 2019 protests are under the age of 25. So this age group is the most vulnerable age group, it is the age group that we should be putting the most effort into helping.”
