Hong Kong Watch organises "Black Bauhinia" screenings and discussion sessions in Canada
In September 2022, Hong Kong Watch and Edmonton Hong Kong Civil Right United co-hosted two Black Bauhinia screenings and Q&A sessions in Calgary and Edmonton, Canada. Ray Wong, Hong Kong Watch’s Advisor, was invited to attend the events in both cities.
Black Bauhinia is the first feature-length documentary film on Hong Kong localism and the independence movement, which fundamentally transformed Hong Kong’s domestic and international relations. Here is the trailer for the film.
Hong Kong Watch and Hong Konger Station also organised an afternoon tea session for Ray Wong and Hong Kongers in Toronto, during which Ray Wong shared his experience of going into exile in Germany and his international advocacy work and discussed the development of the Hong Kong diaspora community.
