Hong Kong Watch announces new Advisory Group
Hong Kong Watch today announced the appointment of a new Advisory Group to “strengthen and enhance” the organisation’s advocacy around the world.
Joining the group are former Hong Kong legislator Ted Hui Chi Fung, Hong Kong activist Ray Wong Toi-yeung, Chinese-born activist Dimon Liu, China scholar and former staff director of the US Congressional Executive Commission on China Peter Mattis and Laura Harth, a European-based activist and Campaigns Director of Safeguard Defenders, as well as Hong Kong Watch’s Fellows Luke de Pulford, Co-ordinator of the Inter-Parliamentary Alliance on China (IPAC) and Stephen Ng, co-founder of Chinese for Labour in the UK. The Advisory Group replaces Hong Kong Watch’s Fellows Programme, and expands our impact across the globe, with members based in Australia, the United States, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom.
Benedict Rogers, co-founder and Chief Executive of Hong Kong Watch, said: “We are delighted to form this Advisory Group, which brings together experienced Hong Kong activists and international advocates for Hong Kong from around the world to provide strategic advice for our policy proposals, legislative initiatives and advocacy activities and help facilitate introductions for our advocacy team to key contacts in legislatures, governments, think-tanks, academia, NGOs and the media. It represents a significant expansion of our previous ‘Fellows’ scheme, and will enable us to further improve our impact in the international community. Together with our Patrons, our Trustees and our staff team, our advisors will play a vital role in our work advocating for Hong Kongers at this critical time for Hong Kong.”
