BBC World News: Apple Daily Hong Kong's closure
On 23 June 2021, Hong Kong's only Chinese language pro-democracy newspaper Apple Daily announced that it will be shutting its doors this week as a result of the National Security Law.
Speaking to BBC World News, Benedict Rogers, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Watch said:
"It's really the death of media freedom, we need to be prepared in the months to come to see the other remaining smaller pro-democracy outlets who are critical of the regime, potentially affected as well".
