Hong Kong Watch condemns the CCP sanctions against US and Canadian citizens
Hong Kong Watch condemns sanctions against US and Canadian citizens today. Those sanctioned include the two co-chairs of USCIRF, Gayle Manchin and Tony Perkins, Canadian MPs Michael Chong, Peter Fonseca, Kenny Chiu, Alexis Brunelle-Duceppe, Iqra Khalid, Heather McPherson, Jennifer O'Connell, Anita Vandenbeld from the Canadian Subcommittee on International Human Rights, part of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development.
This is yet another disproportionate reaction. While the US, UK, Canada and EU have sanctioned human rights violators, the Chinese government has chosen to sanction human rights defenders, committees and leading elected legislators around the world. All pretence of innocence has now faded away and the wolf warriors are biting back, the world must unify to stand with Uyghurs, Hong Kongers, and others facing persecution by the Chinese government.
