The Telegraph: 'Helena Morrissey attacks HSBC's attempts to 'ingratiate' bank with Chinese Communist Party'

Hong Kong Watch’s report shows that despite lip-service to the importance of responsible investing and ESG priorities, major international pension funds are heavily invested in Chinese companies with problematic human rights records. Following the report launch, Helena Morrissey said investment in China cannot be reconciled with ESG principles:
"There are tough anti-money laundering laws to stop the financing of terrorism and drug dealing, even if that might be very lucrative… but institutional investors, the signatories to the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, are today investing in countries that are known to be abusing human rights.”
